Unlike many multiple vitamin-mineral supplements for children, Children's Basic Nutrients contains no sugars, binders, or allergenic excipients. Only the finest, most bioavailable nutrients are used, and the easy-to-swallow, kid-size capsule makes dosing easy, even in young children.

Some customers have noted that the multiple vitamin-mineral formulas have a strong odor. This is particularly noticeable to patients who have been taking the multiples long-term. The change in odor is due to the fact that we have (over the past year) changed from selenium picolinate to selenomethionine. While we believe selenomethionine is a superior form of selenium, it does have a bit of a sulfur smell, which is normal and does not reflect a problem with the product.

Suggested Use: For Children Four and Older: Take 2-6 capsules daily or as recommended by a health-care practitioner.

Easy-to-swallow, kid-size capsule makes dosing easy, even in young children.

The two-part vegetarian capsule may also be taken apart and mixed into food (like apple sauce or yogurt) or liquid.

Iodine may occasionally cause an allergic reaction in some individuals.

PURITY
This product does not contain wheat, gluten, corn, yeast, soy, egg, dairy products, or artificial colors, artificial sweeteners, or artificial flavors. This product also does not contain lactose, palmitic acid, magnesium stearate, or stearic acid.

INTERACTIONS
As vitamin K interferes with the effect of anticoagulant drugs (like Coumadin), the concurrent use of these agents should be avoided.

Folinic acid and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate supplementation is not recommended concurrent with methotrexate cancer therapy, as they can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, these folate sources have not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.

ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.

Vitamin C can cause diarrhea in some individuals in large doses, which can vary from person to person and resolves when the amount is reduced.
